Did I mention that Saddle Tramps Collection (that's our legit name) showed at Williamsburg Fashion Weekend? It was at Glasslands, a really great gallery/venue/bar a few weekends ago. PUNKCAST posted a video of our show the day after (way to be on top of it guys!) and I'm really excited to be able to share it with everyone. Friday was my very first trunk show at Verse boutique, I brought mostly jewelry, but some very good looking boys tried on the harem pants from my senior thesis.... Lastly, Miguel in a leather eyepatch that I made for him, beautiful!

So everyone, the big news is that I am finally having a premier trunk show! It's very short notice (because of a lack of internet access) but if you can, come out to Verse Boutique at 1821 W. Danny and I started sewing up some samples for the collection yesterday. I was very surprised when our first muslin turned out to be almost exactly what we had intended... It's so exciting to see everything coming together!! Only two more months until it is unveiled to the world (or... the few people who will see it) but to get you excited I'm posting some spare inspiration. From top to bottom, the owners of these skulls are::: sugar glider, lynx, elk and armadillo. Yes! Sugar gliders even have cute skulls! They are a perfect animal.

Last night was my first shoot for the portrait project I'm working on... Not only did it turn out better than I could have imagined, but I got about five too many great shots that I can't even use. Great start for a series that I was initially very, very nervous about.

Danny and I started building the set for the next shoot tonight... It's all very exciting.

Drove to Elgin today to visit the Leather Factory. It was like a welcome home, with all the employees reenactment gear they made hung up behind the cash register...

Unfortunately, I could only afford two small black lambskins for my next project so my leather jacket must now turn into a leather vest. Ann Demeulemeester for inspiration? Yes.

I've been slacking a little bit on my fashion work, trying to perfect my leather skills... But I've been taking a lot of pictures recently and some of them even turn out well! I like the idea of having a multimedia fashion show so I'm planning on incorporating images and film into the show we're theoretically having at the end of summer.

Chicago Fashion Focus is finally over.
It was pretty nice to see some of the hard work I did for Agga on stage and pretend that I am actually in the industry... Next year I am hoping that my own designs will be onstage, but for now I am content with sipping (far too many) cocktails at the VIP. This Agga B. look was shown at the World of Fashion show. I spent about four hours of my life weaving together that scarf, check it out!

the other day i got a nice short break all to myself, and decided to make oatmeal and watch bande a parte... it is the best of the best, to watch at sunset, with coffee. maybe though, wine would have been a bit better. just enough to be able to still read the subtitles.

also, fashion week. makes me so happy.

The other day Danny and I caught an interview with James Prosek on NPR. I'd never heard of him before, but he was a pretty intriguing super-nerd writer, philosopher and artist so I had to check out some of his work. Turns out we have a lot in common, we both like combination animals.

When I first moved to Chicago, there always a little Indian four-stroke parked down the street. It was the perfect size and radiated a perfect amount of coolness... I envied the hell out of that bike. When I finally caught a glimpse of its owner (a nondescript middle age man), I got the idea that maybe it is about time to revive the association between hipness and bike culture. Granted the fact that I know absolutely nothing about motorcyles at all, I'm starting to do some research about what might be the best bike for me. I'm thinking something along the lines of Bob Dylan and his Triumph...
